Official release from the Medicinal Cannabis Authority
Kingstown, St. Vincent, November 14, 2019
The Medicinal Cannabis Authority will embark on a series of training workshops for local doctors next week. The patient access training event will focus on prescribing and dispensing of medicinal cannabis.
Three training events are planned for the remainder of the year. They are geared toward certifying participants in prescribing and eventual authorization to prescribe medicinal cannabis.
Participation in these events is restricted to medical doctors, dentists, and veterinarians who are duly registered under the Medical Registration Act, as well as pharmacists registered according to the Pharmacy Act.
The training events will include overviews of the medicinal cannabis industry, legal requirements, the endocannabinoid system, routes and dosing and dispensing. According to the MCA, attending a training event does not automatically authorize a practitioner to prescribe or dispense medicinal cannabis. Practitioners must still apply for and receive written authorization to legally prescribe or dispense medicinal cannabis.
The dates for these training events are November 27, December 4 and 8. The venue for the training events on November 27 and December 4, is the NIS Conference Room in Kingstown, while the venue for the December 8 event is the Blue Lagoon Conference Room at Ratho Mill. Practitioners wishing to participate are asked to confirm this with the MCA one week prior to the selected training date.
